Non-Surgical Treatment for Under Eye Hollowing

Hollowing or tear-troughs under the ends tend to make one look more tired or aged than they actually are. Luckily, there are great surgical options for this as well as a popular non-surgical treatment for under eye hollowing.

At Utah Facial Plastics, we have four expert injectors that treat under eye hollowing often at both our locations in Layton and Draper. The product they typically use is Restylane, because it tends to swell less than other hyaluronic acid products available. It feels the tear-trough area very well and stays where it’s injected.

All our injectors use a blunt-tip cannula when injecting Restylane for under-eye tear troughs to minimize bruising and swelling. They inject up through the mid-cheek and feather the product up through the hollow area in a conservative manner. Because the under-eyes are more prone to swelling, it’s best to start with a conservative amount and then have patients come back for more if they choose to once the swelling subsides. We bank the syringe at our office for up to a year for patients to come back at any time with no additional charge. Treatment takes approximately 15-30 minutes in-office and patients can resume normal activity immediately following treatment. It is best to avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E and fish oil for about 3-5 days prior to treatment to help minimize the risk of bruising and swelling.

The results are immediate and can drastically improve ones appearance and self-confidence. It’s best for patients to come in to learn if they are a good candidate for this non-surgical treatment for under eye hollowing or if surgical options would best to provide the desired outcome.
