A facelift (rhytidectomy) is a surgical procedure designed to improve loose and sagging skin of the lower face and neck. The term “facelift” is somewhat misleading. Although a facelift can dramatically improve overall facial appearance, patients concerned with changes to the mid and upper face should consider an endoscopic forehead and midface lift. Conditions addressed by rhytidectomy include “jowls,” sagging cheeks, loose skin of the neck (“turkey neck”), or deepening lines at the corners of the mouth.
