In-Office Mini Facelift from Utah Facial Plastics on Fresh Living

Dr. Henstrom discusses the benefits of an in-office mini facelift from Utah Facial Plastics on Fresh Living with Kari Hawker-Diaz and Chef Bryan Woolley.

Kari: Chef Bryan and I absolutely love Utah Facial Plastics and are so excited to have them here today.

Chef Bryan: Dr. Douglas Henstrom is here with us. He is a board-certified facial plastic surgeon from Utah here with us today. I am thrilled. I know you very well…you have stuck needles in my face. It’s great to have you.

Kari: We’re talking about mini facelifts in the office, right?

Dr. Henstrom: Yeah, Dr. Scott Thompson, my partner, and I have worked hard to perfect the technique of mini facelifts. Not all facelifts are created equal. You gotta have an office facelift for patients who don’t want as much downtime, need a quicker recovery, that still addresses the under-lying tissues so it’s long-lasting. You want results that will satisfy the patient immediately after surgery as well as for the long-term.

Chef Bryan: What are some of the benefits of this type of mini facelift?

Dr. Henstrom: There are great benefits with a mini-facelift from Utah Facial Plastics. First of all, being able to do it in the office saves you from paying additional anesthesia and facility costs. We can do this with patients awake, give them some valium to help them relax. There’s a lot of “talkesthesia” during a case, so we talk with them a lot. The worst part is just getting numb. But once they’re there, we often have patients who will fall asleep on us because they are that comfortable.

Also, as part of the MACSlift procedure, we include submental liposuction  or neck liposuction for all patients. Another benefit is that this is a short-scar facelift. So instead of a long incision this is just going in front of the ear and hides very well. The less tissue dissection that you do, there’s quicker recovery.

Kari: Who is a good candidate for this?

Dr. Henstrom: Great candidates are typically those that don’t come with a lot of loose skin, so thinner, lighter skin. Also younger patients often in their 40’s and 50’s.

MACS facelift procedure

Chef Bryan: It doesn’t have to be women, right?

Dr. Henstrom: That’s exactly right. So younger patients, patients with a mild to moderate amount of jowling or jawline concerns they want to correct…a little bit of what you’d refer to as a ‘nip and tuck’.

Kari: Okay, and the regular facelifts are still done too?

Dr. Henstrom: Yes and that’s the importance of getting in for a consultation with one of us and having us really evaluate the face and tell you honestly if a MACSlift is a good option for you or not a good option for you and then we can discuss the full traditional facelift.

Chef Bryan: And you do the full spectrum there for the face from Botox to Hydrafacial, which we love. If you haven’t had a Hydrafacial there, holy cow, you need one. Go see Trish at Utah Facial Plastics for  Hydrafacial.

Dr. Henstrom: That is the new thing and it’s great…I do it for myself as well once and month and am hopefully looking good.

The other benefit with the MACSlift in-office is that we’re often doing it in conjunction with other procedures to enhance the result. So for instance, upper lid blepharoplasty, maybe a chin implant for certain patients, those things can also be done just in-office under a little local anesthesia.

Chef Bryan: I love the fact that you make people feel as good on the outside as they do on the inside.

Kari: And not only do you know what you’re doing as professionals, everyone is so incredibly nice and we love having you here, Dr. Henstrom.

Dr. Henstrom: We love being here so thanks for having me.

Kari: And how do people get a hold of you for more information on a mini facelift from Utah Facial Plastics?

Dr. Henstrom: Well they can go to our website at utahfacialplastics.com or they can follow us on Instagram and get a hold of us that way.
