PRP for hair loss process at Utah Facial Plastics with Beth Sheiner, cosmetic nurse.
PRP for loss restoration has become more and more popular in recent years as treatment shows promising results for many suffering from hair loss and thinning.
First, Beth starts by taking the patients blood with a small needle. She then spins it for approximately 10 minutes in a centrifuge to separate the growth factors. She then takes the Platelet-Rich Plasma, leaving the Platelet-Rich Poor Plasma and red blood cells, and gets ready to inject them into the scalp.
The injection process is quick and a small needle is used to inject the PRP into multiple areas of the scalp, as shown in the video.
The platelets contain growth proteins that stimulate the follicles to produce thicker strands of hair. It’s recommended that patients receive 4 treatments initially, spaced 1 month apart, and then continual treatments 3-6 months apart from there to keep up with results. Overtime, touch-up treatments may be able to be extended longer depending on the patient. Finasteride and Rogaine use in combination with PRP for hair restoration typically yields the best results.
Benefits of PRP for hair restoration:
- Simple, non-surgical procedure that can be done in-office
- Completely safe as PRP comes from the patients own body
- No downtime
- Quick treatments
- Natural looking results
