AHA,BHA, or both?!
probably often see these letters on skin care products and wonder what they are. Without getting too scientific and confusing, they are both hydroxy acids and have been found to have multiple skin benefits.
AHA’s are often referred to fruit acids, also derived from milk and sugar. They work be removing the top layer of the skin by exfoliation. They also help to reduce wrinkles, produce collagen, and enhance the appearance of sun damage. AHA is an important component in lightening the skin, an alternative of hydroqinone.
There is only one BHA, salicylic acid, which is commonly known for reducing breakouts. BHA is also very useful in reducing wrinkles, improving skin roughness and conditions that involve blocked and clogged pores.
I have found these hydroxy acids combined in Skin Medica’s AHA/BHA cream, giving multiple benefits in a skin care regimen. AHA’s do not penetrate well into the skin, while BHA does by treating all layers of the skin. Because hydroxy acids take off a layer of the skin you can become more sensitive to the sun. Pair this with a cleanser, moisturizer and SPF best for your skin and you will have a great regimen!
Until the end of August, bring a friend and each receive 2 for 1 Botox® for one area each. That essentially gives you half off Botox up to one area! Plus, you can purchase one set of the AHA/BHA cleanser and moisturizer and receive another for your friend for free! Just split the payment for equal savings.
