Dr. Thompson of Utah Facial Plastics is excited to offer micro needling with platelet rich plasma for facial rejuvenation. The Eclipse MicroPen Elite is an automated form of collagen induction therapy that treats the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, pigmentation and overall skin tone.
During a micro needling session, controlled micro-injuries are created in the skin to produce collagen and elastin production. Additional topicals, such as platelet rich plasma, can be transferred to deeper layers in the skin through micro channels created with the needling process.
Eclipse PRP during a micro needling treatment releases growth factors that respond to tissue injury and induce the repair process in the skin. Through this process, collagen and elastin growth takes place, thus reducing fine lines, pigmentation, and scarring.
The Eclipse MicroPen can be used on all areas of the body but most often the face, neck, décolleté and hands. One treatment takes approximately 30 minutes in-office and typically a series of 2-3 treatments – spaced about 6–8 weeks apart – is recommended for maximum results. For more advanced signs of aging, Dr. Thompson may recommend 6-8 treatments at 6 week intervals.
Minimal discomfort can be expected as a topical numbing agent is applied to the face prior to treatment. Patients typically notice an immediate glow following their initial treatment but may exhibit slight redness for a few days as the skin heals.
