oscars 3

Minus one star that’s had a bit too much plastic surgery, I’d say the majority of last nights red carpet stars looked absolutely flawless. Some even seem to look younger and younger each year they attend. Naturally, we all want to know what they’ve done and how to get it.

A recent article in the New York Daily News shares some common tricks of the starts in preparation for the red carpet that begin months before award season.

Vitamon Shots & IV Drips

Stars love the jolt of energy they get with a B12 shot injected right into their blood stream. It’s the perfect pick me up before a big award night like the Oscars.

“They’re one of the most popular things we have,” said Dr. Jeffrey Goldstein, founder of Fountain Med Spa in NY, which offers the shots for $35 a pop. He sees a surge on business right before big events like fashion week.

In fact, Rihanna once tweeted a photo of her arm hooked up to an IV vitamin drip right before the Grammy Awards last year.

The vitamins are also thought to be a hangover cure since B12 helps break down alcohol.

Madonna, Rita Ora, and Cara Delevingne are also fans of vitamin injections.

Teeth Whitening

Those flashy smiles definitely are not natural. Stars usually get professional teeth whitening treatments a few days before major events. Treatments range from $200 to $500, depending on the dentist.

Laser Hair Removal

Stars in skin-baring dresses won’t risk the camera catching even a stubble. Most turn to laser hair removal several months before awards season in preparation. Its often the first cosmetic procedure the stars begin with.

Many patients have everything removed but the must-do areas are still the legs, bikini line, underarms and arms, depending on the gown.

It takes at least four treatments for the hair to go away permanently, and skin takes a day or two to recover. Prices per treatment start around $200.

Microdermabrasion/Chemical Peels

It takes a lot more than makeup to make the stars glow.

Celebrity facialist Joanna Vargas – a favorite of stars including Rachel Weisz and Sofia Coppola – recommends chemical peels and microdermabrasion, too.

“They will be arriving during daytime sun on the red carpet so their skin has to be flawless,” she said. “Also, the skin is a canvas for their makeup. If the skin is perfect, they will be glowing!”

She also tells her clients to sleep with an exfoliating mask on their skin the night before the Oscars.

Botox And Fillers

Aging actresses don’t look that good without a little help. We all know the stars love Botox® for vanishing wrinkles and fillers for plumping lips and deep lines.

These treatments are extra important to one to two months prior to awards night and likely make the biggest difference of all.

Gwyneth Paltrow, Sharon Osbourne, Jennie Garth and Courtney Cox have all admitted to using Botox.
