Celebrity Plastic Surgery Report: What Happened To Renee Zellwegger?

You’ve likely already read the headlines following Renee Zellwegger’s shocking appearance at Elle’s Women in Hollywood Awards in Beverly Hills this past Monday. She pretty much left every everyone asking, “What happened to her face?” and sent media sources into a frenzy. The 45 year old academy award winner addressed the plastic surgery rumors the next day.

“I’m glad folks think I look different! I’m living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I’m thrilled that perhaps it shows,” says Zellwegger. She feels all the talk about her appearance is “silly”, and tells People Magazine, “It seems the folks who come digging around for some nefarious truth which doesn’t exist won’t get off my porch until I answer the door.”

“My friends say that I look peaceful. I am healthy,” she says. “For a long time I wasn’t doing such a good job with that. I took on a schedule that is not realistically sustainable and didn’t allow for taking care of myself. Rather than stopping to recalibrate, I kept running until I was depleted and made bad choices about how to conceal the exhaustion. I was aware of the chaos and finally chose different things.”

Renee, we are super happy you are doing better and living a much healthier lifestyle. But you aren’t fooling anyone about your appearance changing solely to lifestyle adjustments. The changes are too drastic and she’s lost her individual look that people were able to identify her with. As it typically is with “botched plastic surgery”, her procedure(s) were clearly overdone.

We reported on this in a blog post last year when she stepped out with her new appearance for the first time.  It was obvious then that she had undergone an eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) surgery to open up her eyes. Blepharoplasty surgery is highly common and very helpful for patients that begin to look “tired” or “angry” due to the aging process, even when they are not. For many, the loose eyelid skin can even begin to obstruct their peripheral vision, in which many insurance companies pay to have corrected by a skilled facial plastic surgeon.

The sign of good plastic surgery is when a person looks better or more refreshed though others around them are not entirely sure what is different because they still look like themselves. This is case of bad plastic surgery where a procedure was overdone and she has now lost her trademark look. It’s unfortunate but we are happy that she is happy with her appearance.

“People don’t know me in my 40’s,” added Zellweger, who next stars in The Whole Truth. “People don’t know me as healthy for a while. Perhaps I look different. Who doesn’t as they get older?! Ha. But I am different. I’m happy.”

In the end, that is really all that matters. But it is sad that situations like this give plastic surgery such a bad reputation. On top of eye surgery, she may have had other surgeries and certainly Botox and fillers. But the the overly drastic change appears to be in the eyes that now leaves her nearly unrecognizable.

Although, this is only our impression. What do you think about her changed appearance?
