Is A Facelift Worth It?

featured docIs a facelift worth it? That is a frequently asked question on the popular cosmetic social site, RealSelf.com, where Dr. Thompson is listed as Utah’s top facelift expert.

Aging causes loose, sagging skin and wrinkles, from fine lines to deep folds. A facelift that addresses the muscle and connective tissue (SMAS layer), and not just the skin, is the only way to achieve long-term restoration of the mid and lower face. Other procedures can be done at the same time, such as a browlift or eyelid lift, to provide full facial rejuvenation.

Participants who have undergone facelift surgery are invited to vote whether the procedure was worth it or not and provide helpful information about their experience with facelift surgery. When asked, “Is A Facelift Worth It?”, 89% said yes. That is 19% higher than the rating Botox received for the same question.

Here’s what a few of Dr. Thompson’s patients have to say about their experience:

“My complete experience from start to the end was much more than I ever expected. Dr. Thompson and his staff are now apart of me. Dr. Thompson was able to give me something I never thought possible. I look in the mirror everyday and still, two months later, get tears in my eyes. My neck is wonderful!! Thank you all so much.” ~ CF “Dr. Thompson did a full facelift procedure on my mother. She was a challenge as she is Native American and has very heavy skin. The work he did was amazing! My mother looks so rejuvenated and 15 years younger! I know it was a challenge, but he conquered that challenge and changed my mothers outlook on life, confidence level, and made her look as beautiful as ever! I am very excited, that some time in the future, I have found my doctor! If you can trust him with your mother’s face, you can trust him with your face!! I also want to mention his beautiful staff. They are so amazingly nice and personable! You feel like you’ve known them your entire life! Thank you Dr, Thompson and his Angels!! ” ~ SM

“I just wanted to say thank you so much for helping me feel better about myself. I have had loose skin and a thicker neck for so long and was so self conscious about it. After losing some weight I thought it would help. I only felt worse about it. Even the day after surgery when the bandages came off and I saw a picture, I just cried. I was so happy. I hadn’t had a jaw and cheekbones for years. I just wanted to thank you and your staff for making me feel so comfortable about doing the surgery and being there to help me through it. You are a very caring Dr. and an awesome surgeon. Thank you……”

Patient satisfaction is best achieved when the patient is educated on the procedure, understands the risks and benefits, and has reasonable expectations for surgery. Dr. Thompson feels it’s important to prepare his patients before surgery to help negate or limit these negative feelings that can occur post operatively. All information will be addressed and discussed at your pre-operative appointment, including the 4 emotional stages of facelift surgery as shown in the graphic below.

Dr. Thompson sees facelift patients frequently during the first few weeks following surgery to make sure they are healing well and to help them through. Our nurses are also just a phone call or email away. We recognize that it takes a support team to guide you through and it’s very rewarding to see the happiness a patient experiences from facelift surgery once everything has healed.
