How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
Laser hair removal works by causing controlled damage to the hair follicles, which over time and with multiple treatments, will destroy those follicles and the hair will stop growing. We do not guarantee permanent hair removal but it will greatly reduce hair growth and thin out your hair. We recommend anywhere from six to twelve treatments religiously, with yearly touch up’s for optimum results.
Ideal Candidate for Laser Hair Removal
Hair color and skin type have an affect on the success of laser hair removal. An ideal candidate for laser hair removal is someone with darker hair. The laser targets the pigment in the hair so it is generally not as effective on blonde, red or white hair, unfortunately. But we find that a lot of patients with blonde and red scalp hair typically have darker hair in the common places people want to remove hair, such as the arm pits and bikini area.
Preparing for Laser Hair Removal
If you are coming in for a treatment of laser hair removal, be sure you come in cleanly shaven. Also, be sure you are avoiding the sun two weeks before treatment and two weeks after treatment to the affected area. The sun will make your skin more sensitive which makes hair removal less effective and increases the likelihood of complications. Remember that results are not instant and will take time. But if you are consistent with your treatments, your hair will become noticeably thinner until it stops growing back. No more waxing, tweezing or shaving!
