Top Plastic Surgery Trends – Terry Dubrow & Paul Nassif

Doctors Terry Dubrow and Paul Nassif of E’s “Botched” recently shared the top plastic surgery trends they are seeing in both of their practices with The Daily Dish. Many trends are similar to what we’re also seeing at Utah Facial Plastics, the biggest being younger patients seeking less-invasive preventative procedures in an effort to avoid more invasive procedures down the road.

Another huge trend is lip augmentation, sparked by “teen queen” Kylie Jenner. “Well, I think Kylie Jenner, who is probably the biggest emerging superstar socially and digitally that there is, has really created a trend in lip augmentation among very young girls,” Terry told The Daily Dish. “So that’s really a big trend right now.”

Kylie Jenner coming clean on plastic surgery and the controversy that ensued because of her young age was addressed by Utah facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Scott Thompson, in a previous post. “Lip enhancement procedures are most often performed using hyaluronic acid fillers. These fillers allow for subtle augmentation of the lips and not only are temporary (the body metabolizes the HA over a period of months), but they are reversible with hyaluronidase immediately as well. Many individuals have genetically thin lips, and a conservative and tasteful augmentation can be a subtle and pleasant change to the overall impression of the face. I generally discourage permanent surgical changes to augment the lips for a variety of reasons, and my recommendation would be no different in the case of a 17 year-old. But, conservative lip enhancement in a 17 year-old who could benefit from a bit more fullness in the lips? Go for it!”

Of course, Kylie Jenner’s sister Kim Kardashian has had a profound effect on increase in request for butt augmentation, which is still going strong and getting more popular by the day.

Other popular less invasive treatments include cool sculpting machines to freeze fat away and facial skin tightening with Ulthera.
