Utah Facelift Surgeon Weighs In On Silhouette Thread Lift

Dr. Scott Thompson of Utah Facial Plastics is a leading Utah facelift surgeon, performing 2-3 facelift procedures each week on average. Patients love their natural result and great care that is given by Dr. Thompson and staff. Due to his reputation as a top facelift surgeon, he was recently contacted by Cosmetic Surgery Times to discuss the new Silhouette Thread Lift.

The Silhouette Thread Lift is touted as a minimally invasive facelift procedure that rejuvenates the face with no true incisions are scars, which is the main benefit. It is different than traditional thread lifts in that the thread stimulate collagen production while slowly absorbed by the body. This helps restore some skin firmness and helps with lines and wrinkles.

It’s estimated to last approximately 18 months to 2 years, much shorter than a traditional lift, and still very expensive depending on the number of sutures needed.

Dr. Scott Thompson recently reported the following in an article by Cosmetic Surgery Times. “Although there have been many variations of thread lifting over the years (the latest being the InstaLift), any technique that doesn’t separate the skin from the underlying muscle and, the, address the sagging muscle tissue directly is unlikely to have significant impact for more than a few months,” Dr. Thompson says. “Unfortunately, many of these procedures approach the cost of a minimally invasive facelift, such as a MACS lift (a technique that while less invasive than a standard facelift, lifts and tightens skin and muscle independently). Those looking for a non-surgical option may be better served by reconsidering the costs and benefits of surgery or sticking with injectables and laser resurfacing procedures.”

For the right patient who is not as concerned with cost, the Silouette InstaLift may be a good option for short-term improvement of the lower face. If seeking a long-lasting improvement with natural looking results, a facelift or mini facelift (MACSlift) remain the best options today though it does come with a longer recovery period of approximately 3 weeks.
