Daxxify Treatments

Daxxify, like other neuromodulators is injected into the muscle and provides temporary lessened muscle contraction that contributes to the formation of lines and wrinkles. A treatment appointment is about 15 minutes and is generally very painless. Redness and swelling can occur at the injection site, but rarely lasts long.  It can take a few days for Daxxify to kick in, so it is important to plan accordingly. Once lines begin to smooth away, patients can expect the results to last anywhere from 4-6 months on average. 

On average Daxxify costs anywhere from $10-$15 per unit. This depends on the place of treatment and geographical location. At UFP Aesthetics, Daxxify is the same price as other neuromodulator treatments. It is best to consult with one of our certified nurse injectors to determine if Daxxify or another treatment is right for you.

Daxxify is in the same family of neuromodulators such as Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin. While most other products are reported to last somewhere in the range of 3-5 months, most patients get about a 3-4 month effect. For most patients, Daxxify is reported to last around 6 months which ultimately means fewer trips to the office. 

In addition, Botox and other neuromodulators are made from a human serum albumin, where Daxxify is made from pepides and doesn't contain any human or animal products.  Daxxify can also be stored at room temperature, where other neuromodulators require refrigeration. 

Daxxify can be used anywhere causing dynamic wrinkles on the face, but is most commonly used for forehead lines in the glabella, crows feet, and horizontal forehead lines. 

Daxxify can be artfully used to treat entire areas of the face including neck bands, masseter (jaw muscle), or bunny lines on the nose. It is important to visit with an experienced injector as they can exam and help you to determine a customized treatment plan that may consider neuromodulators, fillers, and other skin services. 

In clinical trials, Revance reported that they didn't observe any serious treatment-related side effects. The most common side effect that was seen were headaches (6%), drooping eyelids (2%) , and facial assymetry (1%). These are also similar side effects that are noted with other neuromodulators. Part of these side effects can also occur as party of poor injection method. 

Yes! Although rare, some neuromodulators have been reported to not work or stop working for some. It is unknown why, as every individual is different. Fortunately, there are options and to truly know efficacy is to try something. Daxxify may be a great option as the makeup is different and may work better for some individuals. 

All neurotoxins that treat frown lines require a specific ingredient that stabilizes botulinum toxin A.  BOTOX ® Cosmetic, for example, contains a blood product called human serum albumin (HSA) as its stabilizer. Dysport® uses HSA and cow’s milk as a stabilizer and protectant. What makes DAXXIFY® unique is that it utilizes a novel peptide as its stabilizer, which does not contain any animal or human byproducts.

If your current frown relaxer is not producing the results it did previously, DAXXIFY might be right for you. It is important to note that not everyone can receive DAXXIFY treatment. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding are not suitable candidates for DAXXIFY. Additionally, individuals with certain types of neurological disorders may not be able to have DAXXIFY injections.

Yes, when injected by a licensed medical professional, DAXXIFY is extremely safe. However, it is equally important to discuss your medical history with your injector to ensure you are a suitable candidate for treatment. 

DAXXIFY works by blocking nerve impulses to the muscles in the treatment areas. When the muscles are relaxed, it helps to reduce the appearance of frown lines between the brows and forehead. 

Yes, many patients choose to combine other treatments with DAXXIFY. For instance, you can get dermal filler at the same time, which works together with DAXXIFY for complete facial rejuvenation. Other treatments, such as facials or chemical peels, should be performed at least two to three weeks before or after DAXXIFY treatment to minimize the risk of it spreading.
