Introduction
Full lips are a hallmark of youth, beauty, and overall appeal. Lip size is largely an inherited trait with some born with full lips and others inheriting smaller, thinner lips. And unfortunately, everyone loses volume and definition of the lips as they age.
The lips are a detailed three-dimensional structure, and any lip enlargement must preserve proper lip proportions. Our injectors perform a comprehensive anatomic analysis on each patient with emphasis on individualized treatment of “deficient” areas to achieve the most pleasing, natural results. Utah Facial Plastics offers the full complement of treatments – from non-surgical, temporary enlargement with fillers such as Restylane®, Juvederm Ultra®, Juvederm Ultra Plus®, Juvederm Volbella®, and Restylane Kysse®, to more permanent surgical options such as fat-injections.

FACIAL BALANCING WITH FILLER
Patients appreciate that our injectors tend to start with a conservative amount of lip filler, let the patient wait for the swelling to go down, and then recommend coming back for a touch-up if they’d like more fullness. Syringes can be purchased in a .55 ml or 1 ml amount. Recommendations can be made by your provider on whether you need a half syringe or full syringe. If you have any products leftover in your full syringe, our nurses will help guide you on other areas it can be placed. 1 ml syringe is only a fifth of a teaspoon, so it may easily be used in fines lines.

Patients can expect mild swelling and sometimes bruising associated with lip augmentation. This typically subsides within 2-7 days following treatment, although normal activities can be resumed immediately.
To help minimize bruising, it’s recommended that patients avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, Vitamin E and Fish Oil 3-5 days prior to treatment. It helps to avoid alcohol 2-3 days before and after treatment as well. Immediately after treatment, we provide patients with a reusable ice pack and recommend icing the lips for an hour or two following lip augmentation.
