Juvederm vs. Restylane Kysse For Lips

A Look at Juvederm Compared to Restylane Kysse

Lip fillers will forever be one of the most popular injectable treatments because having a little volume in the lips can actually make an individual appear younger. Juvederm and Juvederm Volbella have been two of the most popular fillers on the market and now have a competitor, Restylane Kysse. So, what is the difference?

Restylane Kysse

Galderma, the makers of Restylane and Dysport introduced Restylane Kysse in April of 2020. Just like Juvederm, Restylane Kysse is a hyaluronic acid filler. Kysse allows gel to really integrate and settle into the skin. This allows for very natural-looking lips while still providing structure and volume. Restylane Kysse is FDA-approved for use in the lips.

During studies this filler lasted up to one year, similar to Juvederm Volbella. When compared to Juvederm Volbella, the amount of product needed for longevity was actually less.

Juvederm and Juvederm Volbella

Both Juvederm and Juvederm Volbella are two different fillers created by Allergan that are tried-and-true. Juvederm is known for how much of a “lip plump” you are able to achieve while still maintaining natural results. Juvederm lasts about 6-9 months. Here at UFP, we use this for our “Medium Plump” while Volbella is used for our “Baby Plump”, lasting approximately one year.

Volbella is a much smoother formulation than its sister Juvederm, which offers more subtle results. In 2016, Volbella was FDA-approved for use in the lip and to correct fine lines around the mouth.

Juvederm or Restylane Kysse?

Whether you go with a Restylane or Juvederm filler, to keep up with the desired results, it’s important to be consistent with touch up treatments. Both fillers are quick in-office treatments that require no down time, although it is normal to have swelling and bruising the first 3-7 days.

We love all three of these unique fillers when it comes to use in the lips. When it comes to choosing the right product for your own personalized pout, it really depends on what kind of result they are desiring. During an individual consultation, our nurse injectors can discuss and determine which filler will best fit your needs.
