Collagen Induction Therapy in Salt Lake City, UT

skin pen

Skin Pen is an innovative aesthetic treatment for textural improvement of fine lines, acne scars, skin texture, tone, and color. Also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, the skin pen is used to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin to induce the skin's natural repair process. This repair process then thickens the epidermis and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, producing smooth, rejuvenated skin. Serums, creams, and collagen inducing topicals can be used and absorbed into the deeper layers of the skin through micro-channels created during the needling process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Skin Pen is the first FDA- cleared device made in the USA and has been vigorously tested for safety. This needling device is able to penetrate the skin's layers up to 2.5mm, where some devices are very superficial and are not able to provide safe and effective results such as the Skin Pen device.

A sterile tip containing 12 micro-tips is attached to the pen and gently pressed against the skin with a series of "passes" made by one of our certified professionals. Micro-channels are created through the needling process allowing topical serums, such as hyaluronic acid, to penetrate deeper into the skin for facial rejuvenation.

Pain and discomfort are minimal as we apply a medical grade topical numbing cream prior to the procedure. Common areas for treatment include the face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.

You will notice bright redness to the skin immediately after your treatment. How long the redness lasts will depend on the number of passes your skincare professional performs. On average, the redness lasts approximately 2 days but many patients heal 24 hours following their treatment, especially  if our Eclipse Dermal Recovery System is used to speed up the healing process.

Some patients require only a single treatment, on more of a maintenance program.  However, 2-3 treatments are typically recommended, spaced about 6-8 weeks apart. For patients concerned with deeper wrinkles, large pores, post-inflammatory scarring,  acne scars or stretch marks, 6-8 treatments may be recommended.

You will notice an immediate "glow" to your skin following your initial procedure. But the actual repair process triggered by micro-needling takes place over the course of several weeks. Results will continue to improve up to 6 months after treatment as the collagen production continues.

Skin Pen with Hyaluronic Serum or Hydrating B5 is $299. It assists in hydration and plumping of the skin. The upgrade options are $425 and $549 with AnteAgeMD Serum and your own collagen induction properties. Contact our office to get more information on how this process works.
