Introduction
High cheek bones and fullness in the mid-face area has long signified youthfulness and health in our society. Unfortunately, as we age we tend to lose volume in the cheeks and mid-face, which often leaves one looking gaunt and unhealthy. As the cheeks begin to sag, nasolabial folds – smile lines around the mouth – tend to become more pronounced and the jowls begin to droop, which can drastically affect the way one feels about their appearance. Hollowness around the eyes may also occur as volume is lost in the face.
Luckily, there are advanced surgical and non-surgical options available for cheek augmentation at Utah Facial Plastics that restore volume loss to help you look and feel like yourself again.

The most popular designer injectable is Juvederm Voluma, the first injectable gel approved by the FDA for the cheek area. Ideal candidates for non-surgical cheek augmentation are those with mild to moderate volume loss in the mid-face and desire restoration. The entire process takes approximately 15-30 minutes in-office.
If under-eye hollowing is also a concern, Restylane may be used fill in the tear-troughs at the eyelid junction. This is typically in addition to one of the volumizing dermal fillers mentioned above.

Slight swelling at the injection site is common but bruising is not, though there is always the risk. You may experience some tenderness, temporary redness and or bumps at the injection site as well. Typically, all will reside on their own within one week following treatment.
There is no downtime and patients are able to resume normal activities immediately after treatment, though it’s best to avoid strenuous exercise, extended exposure to heat, and alcohol consumption for the remainder of the day if possible.
Volumizing dermal fillers range in price from $775- $850 per syringe, and more than one syringe may be recommended for fullness. Exact pricing can be given at the time of your initial consultation and multiple syringes may be discounted for full treatment.

Voluma studies have shown results to last up to 2 years while Radiesse, Restylane Lyft, and RHA fillers are closer to 12-18 months. These studies are based on multiple syringes. Results tend to last longer with prolonged treatment.
Our surgeons also use fat grafting often to restore volume in the mid-face, which can be done as a stand-alone treatment or in conjunction with other procedures, such as facelift or mid-facelift surgery for full rejuvenation. Cheek implants can be also used for permanent augmentation.
