Now May be a Great Time for Cheek Augmentation

There are few signifiers that we’ve taken as an indication of youthful beauty. High, full cheekbones is one of them. It is also one of the attributes of youth that fades with age. The volume in the mid-face comes from fatty tissue and natural water retention in the superficial layers of the skin. Without sufficient collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid, these tissues degrade over time. This can leave the face looking gaunt, flat, and generally devoid of contours. Furthermore, when tissue loses structure in the mid-face, skin sags down around the nose and mouth, deepening creases there. Finally, tissue sags down toward the jawline, creating jowls. It may be reassuring to know that cheek augmentation may improve all of these concerns.
The expert injectors at Utah Facial Plastics have extensive training and clinical practice using a variety of soft tissue fillers that have been developed specifically for areas like the mid-face. Common products used for cheek augmentation include Juvéderm Voluma, Restylane Lyft, and Radiesse. If you are interested in rejuvenating your mid-face or enhancing the cheeks to be more prominent, one of our providers will have a consultation with you to go over all of your concerns and goals. From there, they can select the best filler product for you.
What Does Cheek Augmentation Involve?
Your comfort is our priority. Although many dermal fillers now contain a small amount of lidocaine, we can apply a topical numbing cream to your skin for a few minutes before we begin injections. Generally, patients tolerate cheek augmentation very well. The product is injected into the mid-face area in a pattern that builds contours naturally. If there is undereye hollowing or puffiness, the tear troughs can also be treated using the same filler introduced to the cheeks. The entire process takes 15 to 30 minutes.
Patients are encouraged to avoid non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications and aspiring for the week prior to their cheek augmentation procedure. This will reduce the risk of minor bleeding and bruising.
Are you a Candidate for Cheek Augmentation?
Nearly all adults notice some flattening or hollowing in the mid-face area as we age. The question is, when do you do something about it? If you’ve noticed deepening creases around your nose and mouth, jowls, and a loss of dimension to your face, you may be an excellent candidate for cheek augmentation using dermal fillers. The results of this treatment are known to last up to 2 years. However, every person is different. Sometimes, results begin to fade as early as one year after treatment.
