“The lifestyle lift is a minimally invasive facelift. It’s done under local anesthesia, and basically it falls under this category of rapid recovery facelifts. There’s not a lot of recovery because not a lot is down, it’s really like a facelift that was done at the turn of the century in Paris. It’s very ancient kind of technique, it uses a small incision, has a very limited vector of pulling, and tightens really only the skin. It doesn’t really tighten the underlying structure, so when you put a lot of tension on skin, the problem is that it starts to look unnatural. Also the skin is not very strong, so when you put tension on it, it eventually just relaxes. So the results of these tend to be very short lived. Also the real issue is that even though they say it’s customizable, it’s really a pretty limited, cookie cutter approach to a problem. It doesn’t address the mid-face, it doesn’t address the eyes, it doesn’t address the forehead, and it doesn’t last long. It also has a substantial recovery even though they’re doing very little in the procedure.
I do a lot of facelift surgery which is very customizable and very structural and meant to be long lasting, and the philosophy of the lifestyle lift is completely different. I think if you’re going to spend money doing this, because it’s a lot of money any of these procedures go up to $5,000-$6,000, you want something that’s going to be long lasting, looks natural, and you want to go for the gold standard.” — Dr. Rawnsley
