What to Expect During Your First Botox Treatment?
If you are new to Botox, we suggest thinking about what your top priorities are before walking into your appointment. If you’re nervous or overwhelmed, having a clear idea of your top priorities can help. If you feel like you need a little something and can’t quite figure out what… don’t stress. You’re not alone. Our expert nurse injectors will listen to your concerns, analyze your face, and will walk you through creating a clear treatment plan that is best for you.
Once you and your injector agree on a treatment plan, the actual treatment can begin. One of the many benefits of Botox is that treatment is fairly quick. Each area that is being treated is wiped clean with alcohol, then the Botox is carefully injected with a tiny needle. A few small pokes in each area and you’re done. Botox is not fully apparent for at least 3-10 days and lasts anywhere from 3-5 months.
Aftercare for Botox is simple. Immediately after treatment you may notice mosquito-like bumps where you were injected, it is important that you do not touch or massage these bumps. They usually go away within a few minutes after treatment. We recommend avoiding high heat, exercise and laying down flat for at least four hours to avoid diffusion. Ice can be used to help resolve swelling.
Does Botox Hurt?
Botox is a relatively painless treatment. You are being poked with a tiny needle, so it is not uncommon to experience discomfort but it’s minimal and tolerable. Botox is a treatment where numbing cream is not necessary because of how tolerable it is. Several pokes are done depending on what areas are treated but an average Botox treatment is around 10-15 minutes.
Is Botox A Maintenance Treatment?
With most minimally invasive cosmetic treatments, Botox does require upkeep. As mentioned above, Botox lasts approximately 3-5 months. With consistent Botox treatments, you will have a noticeably smoother complexion and will keep those scowl lines and wrinkles away. Overall Botox is a safe, effective, and quick treatment…be prepared to love it.
