Get The Perfect Lips with Utah Facial Plastics on Good Things Utah

Lips come in all different shapes and sizes. Did you know that as we age, we lose volume in our lips? The lips can be enhanced with lip liners and lip sticks, but they can also be rejuvenated and replenished with hyaluronic acid lip fillers.  Nurse injector Jeanna sits down with Deena from Good Things Utah to discuss everything you need to know about lip fillers.

Lip Fillers

Lip filler is a treatment that is 100% customizable. Utah Facial Plastics primarily sticks to hyaluronic fillers because there are less complications and the material is much more natural. Hyaluronic acid fillers do naturally break down over time in case the patient does not like the result. Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in our joints and skin cells, making it easy for most everyone to tolerate. Lip filler can be done conservatively to maintain the lips you’ve once had or the lips you want. Because lip filler is so customizable, we can keep lips looking as natural or give a fuller look if desired by the patient.

There are several dermal fillers available and are used for different reasons. Some fillers are used for volume and plumping, while others are best for defining and shaping. Our experienced nurse injectors will consult with you based on your lip shape and anatomy, as well as your personal goals when receiving a lip filler treatment.

What To Expect During a Lip Filler Treatment?

When you walk into the beautiful lobby of Utah Facial Plastics you will immediately feel warmed and welcomed by our staff and taken back to consult with one of our expert nurse injectors. We will discuss your health and cosmetic treatment history, as well as your wants and individual goals. It is important to research your injector and trust in them to recommend the best product and treatment for you.  Dermal fillers like Juvederm and Restylane are commonly used in the lip area and used most frequently in our office.

The lips are a tender area to treat. This can be intimidating to many, so we offer a great numbing cream application or dental block before the process to make it very tolerable.   Following treatment, it is completely normal for individuals to experience bruising and swelling but it does not always occur. Your injector will go over everything you need to know about lip fillers before being treated so that you are prepared.

Will My Lips Look “Overdone”?

This is an extremely common question that our nurse injectors get about lip filler. Looking overdone or fake is a common concern and understandable. The amazing thing lip filler is that it is customizable, and the really good ones are the ones you don’t even notice. Our injectors can achieve natural or fuller lips with different types of fillers. Utah Facial Plastics offers half or full syringe lip filler  treatments. Your injector will explain what each will achieve and what will be best for you. We also encourage individuals to follow our social media pages on Facebook or  Instagram to see before and after photos our nurses share. This can help you get an idea of what to expect and what our results look like.

Botox Lip Flip

Another alternative to lip filler is the Botox lip flip. This is great for individuals who don’t need any added volume but want the appearance of lip filler or want that upper lip to pop more. A Botox lip flip involves a few units of Botox being injected right above the upper lip. By doing so, it relaxes that muscle and slightly flips that upper lip up a little bit. A lip flip is very subtle and is the perfect option for those who already have full lips. Botox can also be used to drop the upper lip for those that have a gummy smile. Botox can be used in a variety of ways around the mouth which can be tailored to each individual.

Lip Lift Surgery

A lip lift is a surgical procedure that can improve the fullness of the lip as well as improve the overall facial aesthetic. A great candidate for this procedure is someone who has an elongated upper lip area. This can be a genetic trait or can occur with age, for the area between the lips and nostrils to become stretched. A common sign that the upper lip has become elongated, is when the upper lip is less visible and begins to cover the upper teeth.

This surgical procedure is minimally invasive and is commonly done under local anesthetic, meaning the patient is awake but numb during the procedure. The incision is made under the nostrils, making the scar hide very nicely once healed.

At Utah Facial Plastics, we are able to offer individuals multiple lip enhancement options with our nurse injectors or specialized facial plastic surgeons.  For more information about lip enhancement, please contact Utah Facial Plastics at our Draper or Layton, Utah offices or call (801)776-2220.
