From cosmetic products to cosmetic surgeries, men have become far more conscious of maintaining their appearance than ever before. It may be due to the fact that cosmetic surgery holds less of a stigma than that of previous years and is no longer just for the rich and famous. Advancements in cosmetic surgery have also made it easier for men to pop in for a touch-up or quick procedure with little to no downtime.
Many men feel that looking younger and more refreshed helps them stay competitive in today’s workforce. Hair restoration is one of the the top three procedures performed on men between 1997 and 2013, a time frame that experienced a 100% increase in male cosmetic surgery. Hair restoration utilizes ones own hair follicles that are transplanted to thinning areas of the scalp to create fuller, thicker hair that looks and feels completely natural.
The remaining two top cosmetic procedures sought by men are rhinoplasty and male breast reduction. Rhinoplasty surgery is very common for younger males at Thompson Facial Plastics. Many come in with a combination of functional and cosmetic concerns that can be addressed in one surgery by an experienced facial plastic surgeon, as is Dr. Thompson. Breathing problems are often caused by a deviated nasal septum that often requires the straightening of the nasal bone to correct a patients functional issues. Often times, patients opt for additional cosmetic surgery to address nasal tip concerns or a receding chin that can be corrected with a chin implant. Chin implants are common with rhinoplasty surgery as the combination can really balance ones facial features.
Following a divorce or separation, males often come in for facial rejuvenation to help them feel more confident in the dating world. Common procedures include dermal filler injections and Botox treatments, which are both quick and require no downtime.
Male Facelift Surgery
Though it didn’t make the top cosmetic procedures list for men, Dr. Thompson has seen an increase in males seeking facelift surgery to restore their neck and jawline. Dr. Thompson specializes in facelift surgery and is known for natural results, which is especially important to men as they typically do not want others to know they’ve undergone cosmetic surgery and want to maintain a distinguished appearance. Dr. Thompson was recently featured on The Younger You with Troy Thompson for male facelift surgery with two patients who shared their experience and results.
