Unfortunately, over time we tend to lose volume in the mid-face as part of the aging process. This can often lead to more prominent nasolabial folds – smile lines around the mouth – as well as jowling. Some patients even experience hollowing under the eyes as well. All these signs of aging can leave one feeling self-conscious about their appearance. Luckily, there are great non-surgical options available to rejuvenate the mid-face and restore your confidence.
Designer Injectables for The Mid-Face
Designer injectables – dermal fillers formulated for specific areas of the face – are becoming more and more popular. The three main designer injectables for a non-surgical cheek augmentation are Voluma, Radiesse, and Restylane Lyft. Voluma studies results may last up to 2 years while Radiesse and Restylane Lyft are typically closer to 12-18 months. Price ranges between $6-800 and for some, more than one syringe may be needed for fullness.
Younger patients seek a non-surgical cheek lift to achieve more prominent cheek bones, which is highly popular and desirable in today’s society. All through volumizing fillers work great for more defined cheek bones as well.
If under-eye hollowing is also a concern, Restylane may be used to fill in the tear troughs at the eyelid junction as well for full restoration.
Treatment
Dr. Thompson will determine if you are a good candidate for a non-surgical cheek lift at an initial consultation and will recommend the best the product for you. Treatment can be performed at that same time or at a later date with either him or our expert Nurse Injector, Alfie.
Topical numbing cream can be applied to minimize discomfort though most products contain lidocaine and the procedure is not very painful. The product of choice is then artistically injected to cheek area to the desired level of fullness. The entire process takes about 20-30 minutes in-office and there is no downtime. It is recommended that strenuous exercise, alcohol, and extreme heat be avoided for the remainder of the day.
Swelling and redness at the injection site is common but typically resides within one week and is not noticeable to others. There is a chance of bruising with any injectable though uncommon with a cheek lift.
