Kybella is an exciting new injectable that eliminates submental fat, which is the fat below the chin that many refer to as a “double-chin”. The active ingredient in Kybella literally destroys fat cells and begins working as soon as it’s injected into the submental area. Results do take time as swelling also occurs immediately following treatment and can four to six weeks to subside, depending on how much was injected and how much submental fat was treated. Patients typically return for 2-4 sessions total before full results are acheived. At that point, the fat is gone forever, unless extreme changes are made to ones diet and lifestyle, and patients can enjoy a more defined jawline from then on.
Kybella Cost
So how much does Kybella cost? The price varies depending on how many vials are needed per session and how many sessions are required. These are both questions that can be answered after a full evaluation by Dr. Thompson or our Nurse Injector, Alfie. Both are trained in treating patients with Kybella and determining the appropriate amount of Kybella needed for full improvement.
The first session more often than not will require 2 vials of Kybella. Pricing is approximately $750 for one vial, and we recommend people start with 2 at a cost of $1500. So, on average, a patient can expect to pay $1500 for their first session and then the price drops from there. This pricing is subject to change. Some patients may be good with just one session and others may need to come back from more.
At an initial consultation, either Alfie or Dr. Thompson can also provide information and cost on alternative treatments for a double-chin, such as submental liposuction.
What is Kybella?
Kybella is a groundbreaking injectable treatment that offers individuals a way to address submental fullness effectively. Specifically designed to target fat under the chin, this prescription medication promises to sculpt and enhance facial contours, eliminating that pesky double chin that can affect both confidence and appearance.
It employs a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid—a molecule that your body naturally produces to break down dietary fat. This clever formulation efficiently dissolves the unwanted fat cells beneath your chin, resulting in a more defined jawline over time.
What makes Kybella unique is its targeted approach; unlike diets or workouts, which can lead to uneven fat loss throughout your body, Kybella zeroes in on one specific area—the submental region. Imagine feeling self-conscious about your double chin even after achieving weight loss; many individuals experience frustration stemming from stubborn fat that remains despite their efforts.
Kybella provides a tailored solution for these individuals, allowing them to regain confidence without undergoing invasive procedures.
Considering the societal impact, many people reportedly feel embarrassed by their double chin—a statistic highlighting not just a physical concern but an emotional one as well. By recognizing how Kybella serves as both a cosmetic and psychological remedy, you can understand why so many are turning to this FDA-approved treatment to reclaim their self-esteem.

How Kybella Injections Work
Kybella’s magic lies in its active ingredient, deoxycholic acid, which is naturally produced by our bodies to help break down dietary fat. When administered through injections specifically into the fat beneath the chin, this powerful acid effectively destroys unwanted fat cells. Once those cells are dissolved, your body’s metabolic processes go to work, gradually eliminating these dead cells over time.
In essence, Kybella is like sending tiny agents that target fat cells directly in the double chin area without harming any of the surrounding tissues.
For many, the allure of Kybella stems from its precision. Unlike some other fat reduction options, Kybella zeroes in on submental fullness—often referred to as a double chin. By focusing its actions where it’s needed most, Kybella minimizes the risk of affecting nearby structures and offers a more tailored approach for achieving a sleeker profile.
It’s also important to note that patients usually undergo several treatment sessions—typically 2 to 6—to achieve optimal results. Each session involves multiple injections spaced at least a month apart. So patience is key here.
With each session, users often report a noticeable reduction in the appearance of their double chins.
However, every individual responds differently, and setting realistic expectations is crucial. Individuals might notice initial swelling or bruising at the injection sites—this is common and typically resolves within a few days. It’s like your body saying “I’m working on it!”
Yet it’s essential for potential candidates to consult with professionals beforehand. They can provide personalized advice on how many sessions may be necessary based on one’s specific needs and desired outcomes.
If you’re considering Kybella, think about your long-term goals. This isn’t just about looking good; it’s about boosting your self-confidence and feeling good in your own skin. It’s vital to weigh whether the potential changes align with your beauty aspirations.
