“My name is Kara, I’m 23 years old and I go to Utah Valley University. I currently live in Provo, Utah. About a month and a half ago I found Utah Facial Plastics on Instagram and was wondering if they did Otoplasty, which is the surgery that I got. I looked on their website and saw they did offer Otoplasty surgery so I called the next day, decided I wanted to do it, and booked a consultation. It went really well and I felt comfortable there so then we booked the surgery.
I’ve hated my ears since I was probably ten years old, ever since I noticed that they stuck out. I hated playing sports because I didn’t want to put my hair back. I didn’t want to go swimming because my hair would get wet and my ears would stick out. I was super self-conscious of it and my self-confidence level was pretty low because of my ears. It kind of prevented me from doing the things that I really loved to do as a child.
I met with Brandi, she helped me through the whole process. She was super sweet and then I met with Dr. Henstrom and he walked me through what he was planning on doing, how long the recovery would be, answered any questions I had, any concerns that I had. It was super easy, they made me feel really comfortable, like it wasn’t going to be a huge deal and it really wasn’t. It was a really great experience. I’m a really nervous person and I get really anxious and am kind of a wimp when it comes to pain tolerance and doing scary things. I couldn’t feel anything because they numbed me up. They were super nice and put on a nice Pandora station for me so it was calming through the otoplasty procedure. There was a nice view outside the windows. It’s only been a week but I would say A+, it’s been going great, I feel more confident about myself, I can put my hair up, I just want to go swimming all the time and I don’t have to worry about my ears sticking out or worrying if people are looking at my ears because they don’t stick out anymore. It’s great, I love it.”
