Preparing for a Botox treatment is typically pretty simple but there are some tips and tricks that can make your first Botox treatment go as smooth as possible.
Research. Research. Research.
This may be the most important step in preparing for your first Botox treatment. If your injector is not experienced, reputable or qualified, you are likely going to have a bad first impression of this wonderful treatment. The best resource is typically a friend or family member who has been getting Botox from a greater injector that they trust and are happy with. With the popularity of Botox today, you’re likely going to have many people to talk to. Turning to the internet and social media for additional research at that point is a great way to ensure your recommendation has the right qualifications and experience to move forward. It’s important to read reviews and look at before and after photos to get an idea of the injector’s aesthetic style.
3-5 Days Before Your Botox Treatment
Although swelling and bruising are pretty rare when it comes to Botox, both are still a risk. To minimize that risk we recommend avoiding blood thinners 3-5 days prior to being treated.
Blood thinners include:
- vitamin E
- fish oil
- ibuprofen
- garlic
Prior to your appointment it’s also important to determine the specific areas of your face and/or neck you are hoping to address with Botox Cosmetic. Your expert UFP injector will ask about your primary concerns before making any recommendations. Common areas treated with Botox include forehead lines, glabella lines (in between the eyebrows) and crow’s feet (lines around the eyes).
Prepare to come back in 3-5 months (Because you’re going to love it)
When it comes to Botox, there is good news and bad news. The good news is that if you don’t like your results, your body metabolizes Botox within 3-5 months. The bad news is that if you fall in love with Botox (which you likely will), expect to come back every 3-5 months to maintain your results. Even getting Botox treatments 2-3 times a year will be better at slowing down the aging process than not doing it at all.
