What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is an FDA-approved synthetic injectable that is used for total facial revolumization. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) based filler that helps stimulate collagen production under the skin, PLLA is what makes it long lasting.
Sculptra is used to restore volume and fullness to the face. It is made from poly-L-lactic acid, a biodegradable, synthetic material that is safe and effective for use in facial reconstruction. This material is commonly used in medical procedures, and it is a preferred choice for facial reconstruction due to its ability to be absorbed by the body over time. The poly-L-lactic acid is injected into the face in order to stimulate collagen production, which helps to reduce wrinkles and fine lines, as well as providing a more youthful appearance. The injection process is relatively simple and can be done in a doctor’s office or clinic.
How many Sculptra treatments do I need?
Sculptra does require about 3 treatments over the course of a few months to get the full effect. After each treatment you are able to temporarily see results right away, although the effects go away as your body absorbs the saline that Sculptra is mixed with prior to injection. Although the visual effects go away, the product itself remains and begins to stimulate collagen production.
When will I see results with Sculptra?
The results of Sculptra usually go unnoticed until the second treatment. After the second treatment, the signs of collagen production become more apparent. Unlike most other facial fillers, Sculptra typically lasts up to 2 years for most patients. Once a patient has received at least 3 to 4 treatments of Sculptra, we recommend returning at least once a year to maintain collagen growth.
The results that patients experience with Sculptra are unlike any other filler treatments. Patients love Sculptra because of the natural, more youthful looking results they achieve.
Sculptra treatments can also be started at a younger age to begin replenishing lost collagen. By the time we are in our mid to late twenties, our bodies produce one percent less collagen in the skin every year. By forty, most of us have lost about 20% and continue to lose that one percent every year after that. Collagen not only protects against fine lines and wrinkles and volume loss, it also leaves us with more youthful, beautiful skin.
