Rise in Cosmetic Surgery Amid Covid-19 Pandemic

BBC News recently reported a rise in cosmetic procedures around the world amid the coronavirus outbreak. Patients feel it’s the perfect time for treatment as they are able to hide behind a mask or work from home while they recover. Reported popular treatments include lip fillers, Botox, facelifts and nose jobs.

Texas cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Rod J Rohrich, said he has been seeing a lot more patients. “Even more than I would say is normal. We could probably operate six days a week if we wanted to. It’s pretty amazing,” he told the BBC.

The increase has certainly been experienced in both of our UFP clinics in Layton and Draper, Utah. Many of our patients are more secluded with additional time on their hands to research and undergo both surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures in Utah. The most popular surgical procedure has been rhinoplasties with facelifts at a close second. Botox and fillers remain increasingly popular with a huge demand following the initial stay-at-home orders in Utah earlier this year.

Many of these patients have reported feeling self-conscious during Zoom meetings and FaceTime visits with friends and family, which prompted their desire to tweak or enhance their appearance. That desire combined with circumstances to recover easier was all they needed to make the decision to move forward with cosmetic surgery.

Our clinics, as well as the operating rooms in which our surgeons perform surgery, are taking extra precautions to ensure patients and staff members are safe for treatment during this time. Masks are required when entering our practice and can only be removed, if needed, during treatment. We are sanitizing high traffic areas often and cleaning rooms between each patient. We advise patients to keep a safe distance from others and are calling them from the parking lot to let them know when we’re ready for them to avoid having too many people in the office at any given time.

The increase in demand has certainly been interesting and we are grateful for patients who trust us for their Botox treatments and other cosmetic needs. For more information on cosmetic surgery in Draper, SLC, Layton and surrounding areas in Utah, call (801) 776-2220 or contact us HERE.
