Botox and Filler: When to Get Injections Before The Holidays

With another year behind us and another holiday season in full swing, many of us may be wondering when we should be fitting aesthetic appointments into our busy schedules. Whether we have holiday parties, trips, or family gatherings in the works, it’s only natural that we want to put our best selves (and faces) forward while enjoying the seasons festivities.

Holiday Botox 101

Whether you are new to Botox or a longtime fan, if you’ve had it once you already know – it’s a must have. Many of us will likely agree that it’s especially important during times when we will be catching up with friends or family, taking lots of photos and putting ourselves on display. If you don’t know, Botox is a wildly popular injectable treatment that temporarily relaxes and improves facial lines and wrinkles, resulting in a smoother and more vibrant appearance. You may have heard or tried other alternatives like Dysport or Jeuveau, which essentially all do the same thing.

So, when is the best time to meet with your injector to ensure that you will be fresh-faced and holiday ready? Botox is known to take between 7-14 days to reach full effect and patients can sometimes experience light bruising around injection sites, so giving yourself adequate time (up to 2 weeks) between your appointment and any big days or events is always the goal and the best idea.

Facts on Filler

UFP Injections

While there are a number of dermal fillers available on the market, they are all used for similar purposes. At Utah Facial Plastics and UFP Aesthetics, we only use HA (Hyaluronic Acid) based fillers that dissolve naturally over time, most commonly Restylane and Juvéderm products. As we age and inevitably begin to lose collagen in the face, these HA dermal fillers are used to plump, sculpt, or restore volume to various areas of the face to achieve a more youthful, defined, or chiseled look.

While the effects of dermal fillers are immediate, it is of high importance that patients give themselves adequate time for things to settle after treatment as there is commonly swelling or bruising that can occur for up to two weeks. The good thing is, this “settling” period is similar to that of Botox, making it possible to get Botox and filler at the same appointment and enjoy the effects of both in time for all the holiday fun!

Schedule an Appointment

UFP Facial Treatment

Now that you have a better idea of injectable timelines during the holidays, the only thing left to do is to schedule an appointment with your injector. Side note: It is a busy time of year for most injectors so you will want to be sure and secure a spot in the books sooner than later.

While Botox and fillers are great for correcting lines, folds, and treating volume loss, bright glowing skin is best treated with facial treatments. A light chemical peel or a hydrafacial treatment is a great way to get a radiant surface with no downtime just in time for your events. UFP Aesthetics has some great medical grade peel options that we will customize for your skin type and concerns. For example, our pumpkin or 5 berry pigment peels will leave your skin softer and brighter in no time. Hydrafacial is an office favorite, this relaxing yet effective treatment always leaves skin smoother and hydrated. Luckily you can get Botox right after these treatments, so you can conveniently schedule them back to back if you are looking to get the overall finish.

When considering injectable treatments, it is important to choose a certified injector of quality. At UFP Aesthetics, our advanced team of Nurse Injectors have built exceptional reputations among patients, and can be trusted to provide the best possible results.
