Will I still look like me after a facelift?
This is one of the most common questions asked during an initial facelift consultation. Naturally, patients have the fear of looking “pulled” or appearing like another person once surgery is completed. This fear comes from the many “bad facelifts” that we see through the media or just during our day to day lives. At Utah Facial Plastics, our surgeons pride themselves on beautiful, natural results. Once healed from a facelift, our patients look like themselves just more refreshed and well rested. People often don’t notice these facelifts because it’s not obvious someone has had any “work” done.
How long does a facelift last?
Depending on what kind of lift you’re undergoing (between a MACSlift or traditional facelift) the length of your rests will vary. With an in-office MACSlift, your result may last about 5-10 years versus having a traditional facelift lasting anywhere between 10-15 years. Your results should be natural and long lasting as long as your surgeon is addressing the deeper tissues beneath the skin (SMAS). No matter which facelift procedure you have, you will always look younger at the 5-15 year mark than you would not having one at all.
Is a MACSlift as good as a traditional facelift?
This question is tricky because facelifts are not a one-size-fits-all procedure. If an individual is wanting to tighten the lower face AND neck a MACSlift will not provide the same outcome as a full facelift, in which more is done to address the neck. This is why a personal consultation is vital. During your initial consultation, your UFP surgeon will talk to you about your concerns and discuss which procedure(s) will best fit your needs.
The MACslift is a great procedure for the right candidate and the same goes for the traditional facelift.
Will I be glad I had a facelift?
Once patients are healed from their procedure, they typically can’t believe they waited so long and wish they’d done it sooner.
