What is Restylane?

Products in the Restylane family are fillers that add volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). Restylane and Restylane-L can also add fullness and definition to lips in patients over 21 years, providing natural-looking results with just one treatment.

Restylane® Treatments

What should I expect at my Restylane treatment?

Once your UFP injector determines you are a good candidate for Restylane or Restylane-L, a topical numbing cream is applied to the projected injection site and let to sit for 20-30 minutes to minimize any discomfort. Restylane-L contains lidocaine to ease discomfort as well. The actual treatment takes approximately 15 minutes and it’s recommended strenuous exercise, alcohol, and extended periods of time in the sun are avoided until the next day.

What should I expect following my Restylane treatment?

After treatment, you might have some swelling, redness, pain, bruising, or tenderness. These are typically mild in severity and normally last less than 7 days in nasolabial folds and less than 14 days in lips. Dr. Thompson provides a reusable ice pack to apply for a brief amount of time to reduce these risks. Swelling may be more likely in patients under 36 years, and bruising may be more likely in patients over 35 years.
