Non-invasive techniques are continually growing in popularity with the increase in new technology and products. A Non-Surgical Facelift refers typically to a combination of non-surgical injectables and/or laser procedures that together provide a patient with overall facial rejuvenation. Another commonly used term for this treatment is a Liquid Facelift or Lunch Time Face Lift. Many medical spas and cosmetic facilities will develop different names for this that they’ve trademarked to use for marketing purposes.

When it comes to lifting and tightening, incisions do need to be made so that all underlying tissue and muscle (SMAS) can be lifted and tightened as well, not just the skin. Without surgery, a patient cannot plan on long-lasting tightening results but can experience significant facial rejuvenation with many of these non-surgical methods.
The best candidates for a non-surgical facelift include someone with minimal to moderate signs of aging. Younger patients often begin non-surgical facelift procedures as a way to prevent or stave off signs of aging as they are beginning to appear.

Common injectables used for a non-surgical facelift include Voluma, to restore volume in the mid-face, Juvederm or Restylane to fill in lines and wrinkles, and Botox® to paralyze muscles in the forehead and around the eyes to smooth out wrinkles. Other products that may be used are Artefill, Belotero, Perlane, Radiesse, and Dysport. You can learn more about these injectables on our Dermal Filler page. Most of them are made up of hyaluronic acid, which is naturally find in the skin and safe to inject.
Common areas Dr. Thompson injects Botox are the forehead, between the brows, and to the crow’s feet, around the eyes. Voluma is the newest injectable and is a thicker form of hyaluronic acid so it works well to restore lost volume in the midface that naturally occurs with the aging process. This product last approximately two years, longer than any other dermal filler. Other common area injected are the smile lines around the mouth, usually with Juvederm or Radiesse as well as under the eyes to fill in hollowing. Dr. Thompson uses a thinner formula, such as Restylane or Belotero, to fill in that area, known as the tear trough. Yes. We currently own and operate the E-Matrix to perform skin tightening procedures. But when it comes to tightening the skin, Dr. Thompson typically recommends a surgical route as the efficacy and research on the use of lasers for skin tightening is not impressive compared to that of surgical techniques. Laser treatments are often quite expensive and don’t always give the long lasting patients are hoping to achieve. As mentioned above, to achieve long-lasting results, it’s important to address the SMAS layer of the lower face and not just the skin.
If your main concern is fine lines and wrinkles and you don’t have a great deal of neck or jowl laxity, our CO2 Fractional Laser does work well to resurface the skin and is great to use in combination with fillers and botox.
Common tightening procedures that utilize the use of lasers or other medical equipment include Ultherapy, an ultrasound technique, Pelleve’, radiofrequency technique, and ePrime, amongst many others.
