New photos of Renee Zellweger have spread like wildfire and creating a lot of online buzz about her rumored plastic surgery. The pictures were taken in Burbank at a Saturday screening of, Long Shot: The Kevin Laue Story, a documentary that came out last year about the first one-armed basketball player to make the team at a Division I NCAA university, Manhattan College. She appeared looking much more wide-eyed than fans are used to and was deemed almost “unrecognizable.”
The 44 year-old star likely underwent a blepharoplasty to remove excess skin in the upper eyelids. This procedure is often done when patients begin to feel that they look “tired” and often start getting comments from those around them. For many, the looseness can even begin to obstruct their peripheral vision, in which case many insurance companies pay to correct. It looks as those she has had some Botox® and possible fillers as well.
Zellwegger also stepped out with her new look on Oct. 24th at the Giorgio Armani One Night Only even in New York.
The new look doesn’t seem to be for a new role as she is scheduled to start working on her next film as the director. She may play a smaller role in the film, 4 1/2 Minutes, that will be about comedian Dov Davidoff. It’s scheduled to begin in February and will star Johnny Knoxville. Her last movie role was in 2010’s My Own Love Song.
Perhaps Zellwegger feels the need to look younger and more vibrant to stay current in the showbiz industry and probably did it for personal reasons as well. As she has gotten older, the laxity in her lids has most likely increased to a point she was no longer happy with. Unfortunately, her surgery appears to have been too invasive as it has given her a completely different look than the one her fans are used to and know her for. It’s important to strive for improvement while still looking like you, which is incredibly important to Dr. Thompson.
